User Interface and Visual Designer

Azinno (azinno.com) is an experience design and innovation firm based in sunny Tucson, AZ. We help companies bring inspired products and services to market. We’ve designed some innovative experiences including an in-stadium entertainment system, corporate identity programs, a touch-screen TV kiosk, an iPad entertainment app, a NSF funded scientific portal, and large-scale enterprise projects. Our clients include Arizona State University, Cisco, Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, Linksys, Novell, Seagate, stealth startups, University of Arizona, and more.

Job Description

Azinno is seeking a talented, diverse, and passionate designer with user interface design, interactive, and visual design experience. Responsibilities include conceptualizing, designing, and producing interactive and emotionally engaging user interfaces for apps and the web.

The ideal candidate must manage multiple activities, communicate effectively, and thrive in a chaotic consulting environment. The candidate should have a strong sense layout, color, typography, style, and a deep appreciation for simple, sleek, and most importantly, usable interfaces for applications and web sites. Office pranks are mandatory.

Application or web, and branding experience is required.

Preference is given to local candidates (nope, Tulsa is not local). Relocation is not provided.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in concept ideation and workshops.
  • Design visual and brand strategies that achieve customer goals.
  • Visualize and mock up user interfaces and web interfaces. Finesse designs at a napkin, vector, and pixel level.
  • Evolve the design to create production ready user interface layouts, specifications, color palettes, typography, icons, and occasionally print collateral.
  • Willingness to do what ever it takes (legally, of course) to hit a deadline.
  • Flexibility to help with other tasks including usability studies … and making copies.
  • Ability to wow and impress clients.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of user interface design experience (required to be considered).
  • A degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Communications, or a related design discipline.
  • Proficiency with AI, Fireworks, and Pshop.
  • Interpret people’s needs, present design concepts, and effectively communicate with internal staff, pets, and clients.
  • Proficiency with editors, document authoring tools, and CMS.
  • Create technical drawings (from sketches) for presentations and user interface specifications.
  • A passion to deliver emotionally satisfying UX and UCD.
  • Able to travel to client sites for presentations and research, or do a Starbucks run.
  • A design portfolio is required to be considered!

Experience with any of the following is desirable:

  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign.
  • Understand limitations of web technologies including: HTML, Flash/Flex, and CSS.
  • Methods for driving innovation.
  • Knowledge of usability testing and methods.
  • Touch and tactile interfaces.
  • Advertising and marketing savvy.
